Safety Alert: Wuxi Brand FIE Banned for Sale in Europe!

Just received confirmation and the EU report that bans the sale of the Wuxi brand of FIE uniforms because they have failed the CEN level 2 safety testing.  No word yet from the FIE on Wuxi’s status, nor on the status of the FIE mask, but based on the first FIE Wuxi mask that I had seen, I would want that retested as well.

Beijing Success Boosts Local Fencing Clubs

Catholic Memorial recently hosted a record setting invitational of 360 high school fencers, and is preparing to host the Great Lakes High School Championships the last day of January.  The level of competition has been higher every year bolstered by the growing number of high school fencers attending private clubs.   [Read the Article Summary at Fencing.Net]

What can you take away from that for your local fencing club?  Now is the time to be out there and marketing new classes as there are many “resolutionists” out there looking for ways to get fit, but who will drop out of any weight training or running program soon due to being bored.  What a great way to position fencing!
