Wow - women’s foil gets silver!
I’m still digesting this.
The US Women’s Foil team won the silver medal tonight.
This means that the US earned five (5!) medals in fencing.
Italy has 6.
France has 3.
There is one event to go, so the US will end the Olympics winning the 2nd most medals. If we win a medal and Italy doesn’t, then the US will have tied with Italy.
Take a few minutes and think about that. Really think about what that means.

I really thought about it. And really thought about what it means. And after much thinking:
It means craig can count from 5 to 6.

Gilbert - It’s amazing what what you can accomplish with 13 years of private school plus a college degree.
The US medal count ended at 6 medals. Second to Italy - a traditional fencing powerhouse.
The US ended up ahead of the traditional fencing powers: France, Russia, Germany, Hungary. This is huge for the US.
Actually, the FIE (International Fencing Federation) likes it too, because they can tell the IOC that fencing is not “just a european sport”, which was one of the IOC’s reasons to consider taking fencing out of the Olympics.

It’s equally amazing that you required 13 years of private school while the rest of us only needed 11.
